Created For God’s Pleasure.

I imagine a static world just before the creation of man. Then in Gen 1:27, (KJV) records, “So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him”  (MSG) puts it thus “God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature”  (CEV) says “So God created humans to be like himself ” (DRB)  “And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him” (GNB) says “ So God created human beings, making them to be like himself.”

Upon Man’s arrival the Bible tells how a clear mandate to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth, subdue it: and have dominion over every living thing in earth was given to Man in Gen 1:28. God had been satisfied with the standard of His creations that He now had the confidence to commit, their management into the hand of Man. He must have indeed been satisfied also with capacity of Man to discharge this duty effectively. Being his creator He knew the content and the endless possibilities from a godlike creature for further creations. To be fruitful was also to be creative and if other items were made by similar pronouncements, the that command “Be Fruitful!”   contained all that was needed to actually be fruitful. At that point God had found warm company that was capable of engaging Him in a conversation as a result of this ability to be creative.  Events became more dynamic, as man could now be inventive on his own and perhaps develop his own creations both in thoughts and in deeds with considerable independence. This would certainly bring pleasure to God whenever He chooses to visit Man in the Garden of Eden. It is evident that God found fellowship with Man in Gen 18:17 and logic in Gen 3:8-13. Since then several Men have led  lives aimed at pleasing God. 1Th 4:1. This couldn’t have been more necessary. It has always been His desire.

In John 10:34 The Lord Jesus calls to remembrance the fact that men are gods. This supports the title of “The Almighty God” for our own creator.  Though it takes spiritual alertness to operate the nature of a god which is innate in Man as seen in Gen. 1:27 above, to call things that be not as though they were and have them, the devils as a spirit is not a god, as men erroneously worship in several forms of idolatry today Gal 4:8.   Being God of gods is to be God of His own kind; the god – Man.

He thus created Man in his appearance and similitude. He wants things like Him to praise, entertain and fellowship with Him, beings that also have the ability to choose not to obey. And that is why evil exists, so that we can truly be like God yet subject ourselves to his worship and thereby give him pleasure. Else angels or even stones could praise Him. But that wouldn’t give him real pleasure, just like a Professor would revel in more the applause from fellow professors at his inaugural lecture, than from the average trader on the street. This is the reason evil exist, to give good it’s value, and test the volition of man in pleasing God.  In giving more attention to the flesh we starve the spirit, and decrease in our ability to please Him.
